2014_VAN GOGH MUSEUM Permanent collection

Spread out over 4 floors, a chronological overview of the work and life of Vincent Van Gogh is given, starting with the ensemble of 12 self portraits and the palette of the painter. Colored walls give the modernistic Rietveld building more atmosphere. The coloring gets lighter while ascending the building. Masterpieces hang isolated, contemporaries are shown in groups and objects are hung between the paintings. The letters (with sketches) that van Gogh wrote during his life run as a guideline through the design.
